Pretty Jelly Holos?

Hi guys! I've been working on a teal holographic polish for myself, since I've always wanted one.  I was pretty happy with how it came out so I wanted to share it with you! It's a linear-scattered holo hybrid, kind of like the Rivka holos.  In the shade it has a speckled look like OPI DS Extravagance. :)

The color is not that accurate in the pic though (more teal), and the holo is more pronounced in real life.  So hard working with lamp light! It's not sunny out today. :(

My mom thought I should sell it, which I was hesitant to do because I feel it will be a bit pricey considering the ingredients.  So I want your feedback on the polish!  This is a 6ml bottle, and if I were to sell it, it'd probably be around $7-8.

So is this something you would buy for around that price?  If so, I'll definitely jump on it and make a whole collection.  I really want to make some more in other colors like lilac, turquoise, magenta, etc.  I would also be open to color suggestions.

Let me know!  Don't be afraid to say you wouldn't buy it either.  This would be helpful to me, since I don't want to splurge on ingredients if there are no buyers. ^__^

OPI Announces the Launch of Euro Centrale for Spring/Summer 2013

Classic meets contemporary with Euro Centrale by OPI for Spring/Summer 2013. Celebrating a region where history meets modern design, the collection’s twelve new nail lacquers offer a mixture of glamorous metallic hues; playful bright shades in periwinkle, aqua and pink; and creamy blues in indigo, midnight and aubergine.
“Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Romania make up an exciting new fashion hotspot,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “When visiting these countries, you’ll view Gothic churches alongside vibrant graffiti murals, blending two very different aesthetics. This fusion of old and new was also seen in runway looks during New York Fashion Week, where classic styles were reinvented with modern silhouettes and patterns.
Euro Centrale boasts a wide variety of shades, ranging from pale nude to deep blue – and featuring everything from shimmering copper to aqua in between!,” continues Weiss-Fischmann. “Whether you’re looking to spice up a black and white print, or add neutrality to a vivid brocade, these lacquers are designed to accessorize spring’s hottest looks.”
Euro Centrale by OPI includes the following shades:

Pretty Jelly Holiday 2012 Collection

Yes, after much um-ing and ah-ing, I've decided to try my hand at polish making.  So, I present to you my Pretty Jelly Holiday 2012 collection: consisting of five holiday/winter inspired glitter top coats.  In case you're wondering about the brand name, I decided to play off my blog name Liquid Jelly.  I originally came up with the name because I thought nail polish looked like liquid jelly.  For my brand, I'm playing off the word 'jelly' and its slang (aka pretty jealous).

OPI Announces Brand's First International Short Film

OPI pays hommage to its Culture of Color with the international launch of its first branded film. Set to the French DJ band C2C’s “Down the Road,” the video features a surrealistic dance-off between four female dancers and a gorgeous Thoroughbred, as trained by equestrian stuntmaster Mario Luraschi.
Named after OPI’s classic black nail lacquer, Lady in Black (known as Black Onyx in North America) brought to the film a repetoire of moves including tap steps and dancing en pointe, while showcasing bestselling OPI colors on her hooves.
The film’s four featured lacquers – Pink-ing of You, Red My Fortune Cookie, Need Sunglasses? and No Room for the Blues – each represent one style of dance and one overarching theme, illustrating OPI nail lacquer as a means of self-expression.
“I always say that nail lacquer can change your look – and your outlook,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP and Artistic Director. “Today, nail color can convey feelings and emotions, expressing on the outside what the wearer is feeling on the inside. In this short film, four women communicate through dance and color. With a trained Thoroughbred who could replicate the dancers’ moves with very little digital enhancement,  we were able to capture the unique, energetic and creative culture that epitomizes the OPI brand.”
The video launches worldwide on October 24, 2012. Please visit OPI on YouTube to view!

Or you can check it out below! ;)  It's pretty neat actually.  What do you think of the film?  Do you own any of the featured colors?

Butter London Wallis

Wallis, 2 coats: antique metallic olive gold.  First off, I love olive gold polishes.  I think they're great for fall, and they're one of my favorite colors to wear.  Wallis particularly got a lot of press last fall when they first came out, and I can see why.  I remember picking this up every time I went to Ulta and putting it back down.  I'm kind of glad now, since I was able to get it for way less than $14.  The formula is amazing and the coverage is great as well.  No complaints! :)

In case you're wondering about this polish's namesake, it's named after Wallis Simpson - an American socialite who created quite a stir in the UK.  She was married thrice, and her third husband was King Edward VIII, who actually abdicated his throne to marry her.  They were both suspected to be Nazi sympathizers during World War II, and there's even a picture of her being greeted by Adolph Hitler.  Not much is known about her life after the Duke of Windsor's death (King Edward VIII's title after the abdication), so she remains as a mysterious and controversial figure in British history.

What do you think of Wallis?  Do you own this polish?  Let me know in the comments!  Oh and if you're a fan of olive gold polishes, check out my other budget friendly favorite here.

OPI Skyfall Collection: Part 2

Hi everyone!  As expected, the weather was really nice today.  I think it's going back to cloudy, rainy weather tomorrow though.  Boo...but what's not "boo" is Part 2 of OPI's Skyfall collection (see Part 1 here).  Hope you like the swatches! :)

OPI Skyfall Collection: Part 1

It was finally sunny out!  Well partly cloudy, which is code for clear skies everywhere but where the sun is.  I managed to swatch 10 out of the 12 shades whenever the sun peeked out from behind the parade of clouds.  It's supposed to be just plain sunny today, so I'm hoping to take advantage of that and do an even crazier swatch fest.  But enough rambling!  Here's part one of the much anticipated Skyfall Collection. :)

Milani Fall Fashion Trends: Haute Rod

Sorry I've been MIA!  There's a crazy amount of these giant grass bugs outside.  They're always around the front door, so I haven't been swatching as much because they keep sneaking in. :(  That and cloudy weather and shorter days.  But I still love fall!  Don't you? :)

Today, I have my final design for Milani.  This one's called Haute Rod, so I made red-orange flames using the needle marbling technique.  If you'd like to recreate this look, you can check out my needle marbling tutorial here!  Have any of you seen the Milani promotion display around at your local stores?  You should be able to find all the polishes I used at those displays. :)

 Polishes used (all Milani):
Black Swift
Rapid Cherry
Jiffy Orange
Red Sparkle

That's it!  What do you think?

Dr.'s Remedy for Breast Cancer Awareness

NURTURE Nude Pink, 4 coats: "A damsel-in-distress, barely there beautiful."  Nurture is a nude pink as its name implies.  It also has bright pink shimmer in the bottle, but it doesn't translate well on the nail.  The formula was a little streaky, so I needed the fourth coat to even it out.  I've reviewed this shade before, so you can check out my previous review here as well.
 _ _ _

HOPEFUL Hot Pink, 2 coats: "A Hello Kitty meets bubble gum shade."  This blue-pink creme is from Dr.'s Remedy's Summer 2012 collection (reviewed here).  I had no problems with the formula on this one.  (*I re-swatched this shade for this review, but unfortunately the picture came out too blurry.  The picture shown above is from my previous review.)
_ _ _

PURITY Pink, 3 coats: "A ballet slipper, sheer hue."  Purity is a sheer peachy-pink reminiscent of the shades from OPI's NYC Ballet collection.  The formula was easy to work with and offered decent coverage in three coats.

Availability: Dr.'s REMEDY® Enriched Nail Polish is available for $17 online at www.remedynails.com or by calling 1-877-323-NAIL.

Dr.'s Remedy will be donating 10% of the proceeds from the sales of these three shades during the month of October to Living Beyond Breast Cancer.  (Read more here.)

Do you own any Dr.'s Remedy polishes?  Let me know in the comments! :)

OPI Marks 50 Years of Bond 007 with Holiday Lacquers Inspired by Skyfall

This holiday season, OPI celebrates the 50th Anniversary of a fellow world icon – James Bond – appearing in Skyfall. Starring Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem, this highly-anticipated twenty-third installment opens in theaters nationwide on November 9, 2012.
Inspired by the film’s blend of glamour and danger, OPI launches Skyfall Collection, featuring twelve limited-edition nail lacquers for Holiday 2012. “OPI is thrilled to work with EON Productions to celebrate 50 years of the style, swagger and mystique associated with Bond 007,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “From metallic and glitter finishes to jewel tones and even a jet black, these lacquers capture the film’s sophisticated and glamorous look.
“Watch for Bérénice Marlohe wearing two Skyfall Collection shades in the film,” adds Weiss-Fischmann. “With Skyfall, a rich maroon, painted on top of the nail and GoldenEye, a shimmering gold, painted on the undersides, Marlohe’s luxurious manicure will be the one to try this holiday season.”
The Skyfall Collection features six shades that play off the movie’s seductive theme, and another six that offer a more dangerous look, including:

   GoldenEye
All eyes will be upon you when you wear this glorious gold.

Milani Fall Fashion Trends: Gilded Rebel

 Polishes used (all Milani):
White on the Spot
Black Swift
Gold Glitz
Jewel Fx Gold

I decided take the term 'gold leaf' literally and draw gold leaves for this design.  To make it edgier, I made black tape designs on my other nails.  For this design, I did have to use a striping brush to draw the leaves.  You can also use a striping polish in black if you don't have a brush.  Or... you can enter my giveaway and win one. ^__^

I think this look would be great for winter.  The gold on white makes me think of wrapping paper.

What do you think of this design?  Let me know in the comments! :)
